West London Townhouse

London

The brief for this 5,000-square-foot Victorian townhouse was to transform
the interior into a practical family home that is both stylish and welcoming,
providing comfort for the clients as well as their two young children. The
house needed to be child-friendly while also incorporating ‘grown-up’ areas
for entertaining family and friends.

The house’s structure offered a wonderful canvas, with impressive ceiling
heights, tall sash windows, and exquisite cornice details. Originally built
between the mid-1930s and late 1940s, the home features grand rooms on
the ground and first floors—ideal for our clients’ love of entertaining—as
well as a basement, lower-level garden, and three floors that include a gym
and all the bedrooms.

We crafted the colour palette for each room based on the desired mood and
the selected artworks. It highlights the power of colour to create an
ambience that is both warm and inviting, with understated and pared-back
décor. It demonstrates that a home can be luxurious yet comfortable and
welcoming.

“I am naturally drawn to muted, sun-bleached colours and palettes rich intexture, tone, and depth,” says Murude.

“The snug area is divided from the living room by full-height Crittall doors, creating a room within a room that allows for privacy. The space is calm and serene, making it suitable as both a home office and a retreat—one that still feels connected to the rest of the home through the same mix of materials,” adds Murude.
